That Sam Yick store in Simei used to have the most awesome huge planted aquariums, some very rare plants (sinking large leafed riccia - like bolbitis type texture), and some expensive aros. Not the cheapest store but some of the nicer displays, and right off the MRT too.

mtchye, I believe what u're talking about is Monosolenium tenerum (erroneously “Pellia”)

IMO many of the shops listed above would be a waste of time to visit, especially if you don't have time....

Top 3 places:

Qian Hu fish farm (for shear size). Don't bother with the public display... just lots of goldfish and common community fish. Look for the "quarantine" and export area. There's where the goodies are.

Clementi Florist and Aquarim, locally called C328 (after the block of flats it's located under).

Cichlids Forever, (Upper Serangoon Road, near Kovan MRT)..... arguebly the best in Singapore if you are after weird and very unusual fish. (If you don't know much about exotics, this place wouldn't hold much for you.... )

Have fun.

Be warned if you go to the trouble to go to that store and you are into interesting stuff your head might explode. After explodes you will be in deep depression because you can't buy anything and take it home.

Hi Oracle

As Kev has already mentioned

Qian Hu fish farm - its a fair hike out of town, basically on the other side of the island but worth the trip. When we went ther they had a heap of diferent L number also a few species of fw stingrays etc

Clementi Florist and Aquarim this is a really crowded store with basically a single person walkway around the store. Lots of different L number.

Both of these were well worthwhile

Have fun

Andreas

Someone has to be the wet blanket here so i guess i will.

Dont be silly oracle and think "hmm, i wonder how easy it would be to get this L cat back home??" cause id hate to see you have to deal with any consequences.

But in saying that, have a great time and dont forget to take shedloads of pics for us bums that cant get over there!!

Haha.. I am not that silly. No fish is worth jail time IMO. I arrived in Singapore 5 hours ago (got up at 4am today), dropped my gear off at the hotel and went straight to work.. cryblow.gif I haven't even had time to go to SIM LIM SQUARE yet, let alone go "window-shopping" for fish. As a matter of fact, I am still at work!! shock.gif

Don't you worry. If I end up having some free time this weekend, I'll be sure to take lots of fishy shots. thumbup.gif
