Eaglebarret
Is there are purpose for lighting the tank, for any reason other than seeing the fish clearly? Should fish get a certain amount of light everyday? Regards David
Willy Wombat
Are you asking if it is ok to keep your fish in the dark?

Tiger
If your tank is in a well lit area ,lighting is on cosmetic . Unless you want to encourage the growth of algae cheers
Ged
Aquarium lighting can serve a number of purposes. These include 1. Cosmetic - improve the colour of your fish and highlight the tank to advantage. 2. Planted aquariums require light for growth and artificial lighting ensures adequate light for all plants. 3. Mimic natural conditions. I suppose the decision on how long and what type of light will depend on what type of tank/s you have. Filtered natural light will suffice but if your tank is in full sunlight I think you are asking for problems with algal growth. Gerard
