Tunnel Rat
Hi would this Pondmaster UV-C 11w be a over kill on a 300l 3x2x2 tank. If I go with a bigger unit now I could always use it on a bigger tank down the track. Is there any negitives in using UV ? thx Rat
wui39
I use the same UV on a 6x2x2 with a flow rate of about 500-800LPH. Seems to work great. One negative is the possibility that your fish may be less imune to certain strains of disease.
spedwards
Mine is on use in a 340L tank running off a 1200L/hr canister filter. When I got mine this model offered the best price point (being only a little more than the smaller unit) and was well overrated for the throughput I was planning. I figure that having too much light is better than not having enough...
Cuong
The only downside with a larger UV is slight increase in cost for the replacement bulb, but it's only a dollars.
spedwards
I think you are looking at about $35 for an 11W replacement tube, this should be done after the 6000 hours (250 days) running time.
