ziad
Well done! I would strongly recomend that you feed live BBS. I found that mine slowly died when i was feeding frozen food and crushed NLS. Good luck and well done again.
YAL05T
Yeah I feed BBS to all my alto fry, what substrate are you using in that tank?
fin350
thanx guys.. BBS? Substrate is fine aragonite...
YAL05T
Cheers Peter, BBS is baby brine shrimp. Easy to hatch once you get the knack and a great way to get these guys up to size
Sloany
Contrats Pete. BBS= Baby Brine Shrimp. There are plenty of how to DIY's on the net and even a cool video of a guy completing it all on youtube. Good luck with them.
Link2Hell
micro worms are also good for new hatched Alto's Chris
ziad
I tried micro worms and found that it was a lot of hassle, they smell, you get so little feed from all the work and although the fish ate them without a problem I was always worried that I may be contaminating my water. I personally think BBS are a much better alternative.
SydneyMike
IMHO, microworms can be a good food. The cultures last for ages, and are 'always ready to go', whereas you have to hatch bbs and use them soon after. There is the smell problem Sometimes if you use rice flour, that can help reduce the smell. Regards not getting much out of them, might larger cultures help? Some people use 2l ice cream containers. Just some thoughts. Nice fins anyhow! :-)
fin350
thanx for all the info guys ...... ive got another female that looks like shes about to burst ..... same male am i best off keeping all 10 in the colony so to speak or try and pull out extra males ???? cheers Peter
ziad
I have seen some large colonies and they look sooo good. I would keep the lot. They only get better (particularly the males) and you never know if you may have one or two die in the future.

Link2Hell
Leave the colony alone they have set up a social structure and are breeding so stick with the adage of "if it aint broke don't screw with it" BTW nice set up Chris
