tootie
Has anyone any tips on how to catch these fish? I am trying to catch the female who is holding and she is so damned fast that I can't catch her. Worse is that it's a 4x2x2 tank and I have to stand on steps. Any tips would be appreciated. Many thanks.
killiguy
Do it an hour or so after lights out,the fish are groggy and it causes much less stress moving a fish this way, they barely wake up esp if you put them quickly into another tank and turn the lights out again
cyber_crimes
Why do you want to catch her? You can leave her to spit in the main tank provided they are the only species in there...

I need to catch her as I also have gold comps in there who would probably have a great meal on the fry. I can't believe how fast they move - there like lightnin'. brucem
Can you remove the gold comps?
tootie
Can you remove the gold comps? I wish - no more room anywhere. Not unless I use the bath I also have macrops in there 2. I've bought a bigger net and will try tonight once I've put lights out for an hour.
chrisso81
Just let the female hold to full term and see where the fry end up. All my cyps hold in the main tank and then spit their fry, they (the fry) instinctively head to the top and you can just scoop em out. The less stress for cyps the better! chrisso81
PS: they're in tanks with leleupi, cylindricus, juli's and calvus, if your quick enough the other species won't realise they're there.
tootie
Thanks everyone for the feedback. She's still in there and I may try once more with bigger net and doing it slowly. If that doesn't work then I will leave her and try and get the fry out - I hope they aren't as fast as the parents. Tootie
