Elapid
It will hold but I would go 10mm personally.
joller
mate i got a 4 foot 20" tall tank out the back with 6mm glass, the force on the wall increases with depth, not width of the tankif you were gonna go without the bracing glass that joins the front and back panels at the top middle then i'd increase the thickness but otherwise 6mm will do
fish4fish3
The brace is essential... get thicker glass in the base though! if you go wider in the base get thicker in the base ( less risky when you move it around ) but really it's not the width that matters it's the hight!you can also google DIY fish tank and you will find formulas for glass thickness
steve24cro
go with 12mm base and 6mm sides, if braced well should be fine. Its not a high tank so you wont have a problem.

couchy
Thanks guys,Surtac, what did you mean a wider base than normal,Cheers
Surtac
Sorry that was supposed to be brace. The top bracing is 30cm wide most of my other tanks the brace is only half that width. I am talking about the glass that joins the front to the back in the top centre of the tank. The tanks are 4X2X15" high not 14" like I originally said.Hope this helps. Brisbane Fish Junkie
You can also have rails all the way round the tank with one brace across the middlethat way the brace can be a little smaller + I find it stops fry jumping out the tank when nettingI have 14 tanks like this all 6mm with 10mm base + some 2x2 made the sameBFJ
