Luna123456
Hi folks, After moving into Glebe and gradually losing 6 fish (Betta x 1, Ember tetra x 1, Otto x 2, Pigmy cory x 2), finally got the API water test kit and did a proper water test. The root cause was the tap water! Test results as below: PH: 7.4-7.8 Ammonia: 0.25 ppm Nitrite: 0 ppm Nitrate: 0-5 ppm Contrary, below is the test results of my aquarium water after a day of water change (higher water outlet setting to generate many tiny bubbles + 3 freshwater mussels in 35L aquarium. Current population is a total of 14 fish, all less than 1.5 inch + 20 plus RCS + 2 Ramshorn snails + 2 nerite snails + 5 Malaysian trumpet snails): PH: 7.8-8.0 Ammonia: 0 ppm Nitrite: 0 ppm Nitrate: 5 ppm I am wondering how is the tap water in other areas in Sydney? Could you possibly share stats in your area?
fishdance
Ammonia in the tap water is expected if chloramine is being used. Your biological filter would remove very quickly. Most dechlorinators will bind ammonia as well.
